Indigo, burgundy, olive, and antique orange. Laban introduced the Ebonite Collection in 2001 to honor the Year of the Serpent in the Chinese Calendar. This pen showcases a clip with a crooked snake design with opal eyes. The barrel and cap are made of high-quality natural hard rubber, also known as ebonite, known for its warm feel. Ebonite has been a preferred material for quality writing instruments since the early 1900s. The material features what is usually referred to as a “woodgrain” pattern, with streaks of color and black running the length of the cap and barrel. Each pen has a contrast solid black section housing the rollerball mechanism. Features two sterling silver interchangeable clips. Snake design with opal eyes. This Sherpa Pen is a rare and collectable, numbered (159 of 888) limited edition with presentation case. The “Year of the Snake” model coincides with the year 2025. Included is an insert Sharpie marker and standard rollerball. The pen is NOS and is a discontinued model last issued in 2013. The brown, tan, white and gold snakeskin design makes for a distinctive look. The Sherpa pen is the standard size of 5 5/8 inches long (capped). It takes a variety of inserts including Sharpie, uni-ball, Pilot and a variety of other markers and rollerballs. Please review all photos.
It’s a 2013 Cross Snake Rollerball pen, essentially a liquid ink pen. Unlike a fountain pen, you replace the refill, so there’s no trouble with nib wear and it’s easy to use. Cross, unlike Montblanc, Dunhill, or Parker, consistently releases special edition pens, which contributes to their popularity. Since this pen has been out for a while, I’ll include a spare refill. 1937 Green Snake Lizard Skin WASP VACUUM-FIL Fountain Pen. This pen is very uncommon. There are no WASP catalogs since it is a Sheaffer sub-brand WASP == Walter A. It seems as though WASP pens were meant to compete with the likes of Esterbrook. There are magazine advertisements and this pen appears in one from 1937. Most gold nib, vacuum filling WASP pens are in the circuit board pattern. A few are in mottled Marine green and even fewer are in the snakeskin or lizard skin pattern like this one. Even more uncommon are gray snake skin WASPs. Is in great vintage condition. The barrel has a crisp imprint of Wasp Vacuum and the patent dates. This amazing nib is not hallmarked but collector lore says they are 12k. This one looks to be fine. Very unusual, and very nice.
