Presented for sale is a genuinely striking example of the Cross C-Series fountain pen in the distinctive Champagne finish – a design that has always stood apart from the rest of the Cross catalogue thanks to its automotive-inspired styling. The C-Series was engineered by A. Cross with racing car design cues in mind: the perforated metallic body echoes vintage automotive leather upholstery, while the chrome “lug-nut” style clip and trim are a direct nod to wheel hardware on high-performance sports cars. It is a genuinely unusual and eye-catching design within the fountain pen world, and one that tends to attract strong attention from collectors who want something different from traditional cigar-shaped pens. The pen presents beautifully overall and is in very good to excellent condition. There is some slight ink staining to the top of the section, which is cosmetic only and does not affect performance – this is a common and easily explained trait on a pen that has clearly been well used and well loved rather than left in a drawer. Aside from this minor mark, the pen shows no notable wear, damage, or mechanical issues. A handwritten writing sample is included in the photos, showing the nib laying down ink smoothly and expressively – exactly what you’d expect from a broad 18K gold nib. The pen writes beautifully.
