RARE OHASIDO Urushi Ebonite J. U x SAILOR NAGAHARA 14K Nib Fountain Pen. Welcome to a New Segment in Engeika. Discovering the Hidden Treasure of Japan. Welcome to our collection, where we present rare Japanese fountain pens from the 1930s to the 1950s. These are brands that you may be unfamiliar with, as well as brands that have lost their history and legacy but are not forgotten. Explore the fascinating origins of each pen and indulge in the delightful writing experience offered by these Vintage Japanese Fountain Pens. ORIGINAL, HANDCRAFTED URUSHI & AUTHENTIC. IN COLLABORATION WITH SAILOR, OHASIDO RELEASED A SPECIAL EDITION HANDMADE EBONITE FOUNTAIN PEN. With Sailor’s famous Mr. Nagahara specially build nibs. 14K GOLD NAGAHARA Special Ohasido Nib. Filling mechanism: Converter or Cartridge (Sailor Proprietary Converter & Cartridge). Nib: 14K Medium Nagahara Nib. Size: 138 mm (From the Cap) and 126 mm (From the Nib). About the pen: OHASHIDO EBONITE. Ohasido wanted to make such a pen that would give a far better writing experience compared to both Sailor and Ohasido itself. It was a collaboration project for both Ohasido and Sailor. To achieve the writing experience that Ohasido wanted, Nagara decided to combine the best of both 14K and 21K nibs. 14K nibs are smaller compared to 21K. But the 14K nib size gives a better feeling than 21K, however, the pen demands a 21K sized nib. So Nagahara made a special nib just for the Ohasido. A 14K Nib fitted in a 21K size nib. On the other side Mr. Eiichi Uehara started making fountain pens at age 13, it was said that he is the only person–or one of a very few persons–in Japan who makes the entire pen, both gold nib, and ebonite barrel, all by himself. However, for this project, he wanted to bring his best by making only the pen body. He made the pen with Japanese Ebonite and used multiple layers of Urushi to make it to the final finish. This pen is a truly historic piece, and it was completely made from scratch by hand. U OHASHIDO x SAILOR 14K SPECIALITY NIBS PERFORMANCE. U Ohashido’s ebonite fountain pens are known for their high-quality nibs, which provide a smooth and enjoyable writing experience. The brand has collaborated with Sailor, a well-respected Japanese pen company, to produce nibs that are durable, consistent, and well-balanced. The writing experience with a J. U Ohashido x Sailor fountain pen is said to be very consistent, with a subtle degree of scratchiness due to Sailor’s most famous feature which is the Nib’s Natural paper feedback across the paper. The nib is flexible enough to provide some line variation, but not so much that it becomes difficult to control. The pen’s balanced weight and comfortable grip allow for hours of writing without hand fatigue, and the ink flow is reliable and consistent, so there are no skipping or blobby lines. Many Fountain pen users prefer a butter-smooth writing experience however die-hard Sailor nibs fans found their “paper-feedback” features to be more nostalgic than a butter-smooth writing nib. It allows the writer to connect with the paper and their ideas more naturally. SAILOR PROPRIETARY CARTRIDGE OR CONVERTER. This pen is compatible with a modern Sailor Cartridge and modern Sailor Standard Converter If you wish to include a Sailor Cartridge or Converter, Please message us directly. Price: Sailor Ink Cartridge x12 : 5 USD Sailor Standard Converter : 7 USD Sailor Mini Converter : 10 USD. The pen is in beautiful condition, there are hairline scratches on the clip but no damage such as dents or cracks found on the body of the pen. The Nib is in EXCELLENT Condition, absolutely shiny with almost no scratches that are visible. There is a high degree of Patin, discoloration due to the age of the ebonite because of exposure to sunlight and age on the top cap and lower body but the rest of the body has been lacquered with Urushi on Ebonite. The pen is obtained from a second-hand collectors’ market and the pen filler mechanism has been cleaned and the nib has been tested to assess any scratchiness or ink leakage. It functions super well, and it writes like a buttery dream. Because the pen uses Sailor nib configuration, this pen can fit any modern Sailor proprietary converter or cartridges. A Tier – Excellent Condition: This pen is in excellent condition with only minor flaws. There may be small chips on the nib, but no rust is present. Hairline scratches may be visible on the body, cap, and nib. The nib color remains consistent, although small scratches may be seen upon close inspection. With Imperial Rome, Signum, owned by Essegi, celebrates the magnificent artwork that symbolizes the city which was the center of the known world from 29 B. The trim features numerous references to Roman art, beginning with the two silver inserts on the cap depicting the Coliseum, the symbol par excellence of the capital, and the aqueduct, as a symbol of the city’s engineering genius. The clip represents the obelisk, while the cap top is set with the micro-cast wheel from a Roman carriage, known as a “biga, ” which is incorporated into all Signum pens as their hallmark. The pen is made of purple resin, turned and crafted to create an antiqued effect, while the trim is rhodium-plated 925 silver. The nib on the piston-filled fountain pen is made of 18-karat gold. Vintage MONT BLANC 264 fountain pen with a 14k M- Medium point nib. It is flexy, as can be seen on the writing sample provided. The 264 is pretty rare to come by. What makes this particular pen even more attractive is the almost new condition and that it is a first generation, early 1950’s, 264. The early versions feature a ski-slope flat feed and no engravings on the gold cap ring, but on the cap side, while the later pens had the round feed and engraved cap rings. Also, the early versions had a yellowish/ ivory- colored snowflake, while the later ones were pure white. This is also a very rare version engraved by Siemens, it was only available in Germany and was gifted to valuable employees of the company. These pens are very sought after among collectors. The montblanc snowflake is very thin and brittle and also often cracks and the black parts falls of. This pen has no cracks anywhere on it, nor any repaired cracks. The pen is in mint condition, as you can see on the pictures. It is a piston filler pen. The pen itself has been fully serviced, which included disassembly, thorough cleaning and all moving parts lubrication, thus the pistons operates smoothly. You can see the pen fully disassembled in one of the pictures. I have provided a writing sample using Pelikan 4001 black tint, in order to further describe the writing characteristics of the nib. The pen is guaranteed authentic.
