Rare 1903 CONKLIN 4NL BLACK HARD RUBBER CRESCENT FILLER No 4 FLEXIBLE NIB
This 5 3/8 capped CONKLIN Self-Filling fountain pen with Crescent Filler is very early 20. Century – the pen features a crisp and detailed imprint featuring Pat Dates of 1891, 1901 and 1903 – the pen does have several issues. The large and rather thick Black Hard Rubber pen with rounded cap and chevron chasing is handsome, there are no chips or cracks, no personalizations and NO TONING or DISCOLORATION – the barrel end shoes a few digs or bites. The clip is missing from the pen. The 4 line imprint is perfect and the barrel end is marked with the Conklin logo, TRADE MARK and 4NL. The 14K gold Conklin No 4 FLEXIBLE nib is a Medium with lots of iridium AND the tines are separated a bit as shown in the pictures. The Gold Filled Crescent is down in the slot it comes out but wont stay out. A very good, early and substantial Conklin with rich, even color. More than just a pretty picture. Rare Serviced Conklin S3 Mottled Hard Rubber Wet Noodle Fountain Pen F Nib
Item: Rare serviced Conklin mottled hard rubber s3 crescent filler fountain pen. Condition: Here is a very scarce Conklin S3 Crescent Filler fountain pen in the seldom seen mottled hard rubber color. This pen was completely taken apart, cleaned, polished, and a new sac installed and talced. The pen is free from any cracks, breaks, or personalizations. The pen can still function normally without this piece but you have to be careful not to depress the crescent while filled or ink will shoot out. The color is good with minor oxidation up near the tip of the cap from where a broken aftermarket slip on clip resided. The imprints are faint. The pen has a Conklin 3 nib that is a fine flex. I would say this nib is a wet noodle as it takes little effort to flex the nib. I did smooth out the nib a tad as it was pretty toothy when I got it but since its a fine flex it may still have some feedback. Im not a nibmeister so I did not want to go overboard with smoothing so further work may be needed to suit your writing style. This pen measures about 5.25 capped.
