This fountain pen comes with the original wooden box, but does not have the Tibaldi Impero Booklet/Literature or a bottle of ink. I have dipped the fountain pen to provide a writing sample and the pen is what I consider to be in Mint condition and functions perfectly. This writing instrument is the very rare Impero celluloid Tibaldi Fountain Pen. The pen has a 12-sided/faceted design. The cap and barrel are in perfect condition with no cracks, nicks, scratches, or repairs. The cap is always securing tightly to the barrel. The 18K white gold 3-ring cap bands are securely in place and polished brightly. The “tie-shaped” clip is hot minted brass plated to a thickness of 3 microns and displays no wear. This fountain pen measures 5 5/8″ capped and 6 3/4″ posted. The Tibaldi Impero celluloid Limited Edtion Fountain Pen had a production of just 600 pens, individually numbered and ordered into two series of 300 pens. Each piece is marked with its number from 1 to 300 – preceded by the letter “I” for the Italian market and the letter “E” for Foreign markets (documents were in English). This particular Limited Edition number is I030 and is stamped just above the threading on the barrel and just above the limited edition number is the “TIBALDI” imprint on the barrel. The Tibaldi Impero comes fitted with an 18K/750 fine nib. I dipped the nib in Monteverde Bob’s Blue ink (a special edition for the 2021 DC Supershow) t. O perform a writing sample that you see in the images. The nib is designated a fine and s. Tamped “F” on the shoulder of the right tine area. The writing sample provided was done with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale. This Tibaldi Impero fountain pen uses a piston filling system and I have tested it with water and it works as it was designed to. The fountain pen comes with the original polished Maple wooden box. The Tibaldi Impero documentation/booklet is not available, but I have included two photos of the booklet that would have been supplied with the pen originally. There is a slot for a bottle of ink in the pullout drawer but no ink bottle. Beneath the satin covering is an area to store seven fountain pens. The Tibaldo Impero is very desirable due to the celluloid design – the gray and black marbling with the electric blue veining. Some of the photographs are taken through a lighted magnifier to show the beauty of the celluloid. I would grade this Tibaldi Impero Limited Edtion Fountain Pen as in Near Mint+ to Mint Condition. This Tibaldi Impero would be one of the highlighted fountain pens in one’s writing collection and a rare example that most never will have a chance to own.

Vintage MONT BLANC 244 fountain pen with a 14k KF- Kugel Fine point nib. It is flexy and smooth, as can be seen on the writing sample provided. Kugel nibs were made to mimic the writing style and smoothness of a ballpoint pen. The nib is more flexible than typical kugel nibs and is very smooth. A very interesting pen entirely made from celluloid, the 24X were different than all the other Montblanc pens made in the period. Not only the design, but the way it was made was much different, featuring a metal guide for the piston that is fused to the celluloid barrel and a blind cap the unscrews to reveal the piston filling knob. In most cases, they are a pure pleasure to write with and have a good feel in the had. The pen is in near mint condition, as you can see on the pictures. It is a piston filler pen. The pen itself has been fully serviced, which included disassembly, thorough cleaning and all moving parts lubrication, thus the pistons operates smoothly. You can see the pen fully disassembled in one of the pictures. This was a pen commissioned by AEG, which was a huge German electrics company that was founded in 1883. There is an engraving on the side of the cap. They commissioned many pens from Pelikan and Montblanc, as they were a huge company. The engraving can be completely removed at request, at no additional cost. I have provided a writing sample using Pelikan 4001 black tint, in order to further describe the writing characteristics of the nib. The pen is guaranteed authentic.
