1988 Sheaffer Grand Connaisseur 822 Fountain Pen. In spectacular 23K Gold Electroplate. It has an 18k Gold NIB (Fine) and this fountain pen has never been inked. Included in this offering are the Shaeffer branded presentation case, pen pouch, cleaning cloth, the “squeeze converter”, 5-original Skrip Cartridge 1 – jet black ink, the lifetime guarantee card with papers and the protection sleeve that enclosed all contents. It has always been stored in a box in a non-smoking home. I consider this fountain pen to be in Mint Condition. The only exception to this condition relates to wear due to age of the leather presentation case snap. This is Sheaffer model 822, better known as the luxurious Grand Connaisseur made between the years 1988 to 1996. The barrel and cap are gorgeous with a beautiful 23K. Gold electroplate finish, polished to a high shine. There are absolutely no dings, dents, chips, cracks, or repairs to this fountain pen. The cap of this fountain pen carries the “white dot”, Sheaffer’s lifetime guarantee symbol and the pen has been untouched in the box for the last 20+ years. The cap and barrel are excellent with the cap always securing tightly to the barrel. There are no monograms or personalizations to either the cap or barrel. This Sheaffer Connaisseur measures 5 5/8″ inches in length capped and 6 5/8″ inches posted. This Sheaffer features a 23K Gold Electroplated clip and is imprinted with, “Sheaffer’s England”. The NIB is 18K solid gold with a Palladium scroll design. The NIB is designated a Fine point. This pen can be used with ink cartridges or the accompanying ink converter as seen in the image. This pen has never seen ink and I did not want to ink the pen so I could keep it in Mint condition for the next individual. The ink converter is unused and ready for your ink. I tested it with water and works as it was designed to. This beautiful Sheaffer Grand Connaisseur is the “granddaddy” of the Connaisseur line up and it is a spectacular writing instrument. The new owners 1970 Mr. W Klein and Mr Benziger decided in 1980 that it is expedient for the company to have its own brand and the name Elysee was conceived. The model is called Laque Intarsia noire. The pen is from the 1990ties. The pen will can be used with standard cartridges like they come from Pelikan or Kaweco. The converters from Kaweco also will fit. In 2000 the factory Elysee stoped to produce pens, so there won´t come new models anymore. Interesting is that this factory was distributed in the 1980ties by Montblanc and later by the company Staedtler. The pen comes from a shop cleareance and is in a mint condition.
