For sale is this lovely vintage rarity – Parker 51 Signet in near mint condition. This iconic pen was made in the USA in 1950 (reads 5.0 on the cap which means it was produced in the 3rd quarter of 1950) which means it is an early rather rare edition (they were in production from 1948 until 1957 when they changed their name to Insignia). Back in the days this would have been the flagship pen from Parker (bar solid gold offerings). The pen has a brass body and cap that are gold filled (reads “1/10 14K Gold Filled” rather than Rolled Gold on later editions) and the section is made of black plastic. This Signet is in a fantastic near mint condition free from deep scratches and dings (there is a tiny little dent on the barrel that is only visible at a certain angle, please see the photos). The section and ebonite feeder are jet black highly polished with no scratches. The cap is adorned with a clear grey jewel and an iconic Parker clip. The clip has hints of brassing around the edges which is common in these pens, particularly for such age. This beauty sports a 14k gold nib with Extra Fine point. The factory grind on this nib is almost an architect like which gives this wonderful nib lots of character: vertical stokes produce a thinner line compared to cross strokes. The pen is a hassle-free aerometric filled pen that takes bottled ink only. A wonderful and highly collectible pen. Comes with a period correct Parker 51 box (although I doubt it’s original to this particular model).
