FOUNTAIN PEN is NEW, MINT, and in PRISTINE CONDITION! This is a new, never used, dipped or inked, mint and pristine condition Montblanc Limited Edition Writers Series Alexandre Dumas Pen Ballpoint pen with serial number 06146/16000 “N” produced and stamped “Germany” on the clip band. What makes this ballpoint pen rarer is that it contains the incorrect signature on the cap of the pen – not of Alexandre Dumas (Senior) that the pen was issued for, but of his son -Alexandre Dumas (Junior)! Montblanc did not realize the mistake until a pen store in Toronto, who was displaying a manuscript in its store that included the signature of the Senior Alexandre Dumas, notified Montblanc. In late 1996 Montblanc admitted it made a mistake and recalled all the pens! Alexandre Dumas (24 Jul 1802 – 5 Dec 1870) also known as Alexandre Dumas pere (where pere in French means father or senior) was a French writer. His works have been translated into many languages and he is one of the most widely read French authors. Many of his historical novels of high adventure were originally published as serials, including The Count of Monte Cristo, The Three Musketeers, Twenty Years After and The Vicomte of Bragelonne: Ten Years Later. His novels have been adapted since the early twentieth century into nearly 200 films. His son, also Alexandre Dumas, was the author of “The Lady with the Camellias”. Note: I do not have the Montblanc Alexandre Dumas booklet that came with the pen, that got lost (probably through a couple of moves).
