Namiki Dancing Beauty 2003 Limited Edition Maki-e Fountain Pen Rare (NIB)
Namiki Dancing Beauty 2003 Limited Edition Maki-e Fountain Pen Rare (NIB). Offered for sale is a Namiki Dancing Beauty 2003 limited edition maki-e fountain pen, which comes from my personal collection. This is one green maki-e pen that is pretty rare. In Japanese culture rice is an essential part of their food staple, even since ancient times. There would be picnics when the Sakura Blossoms were at their peak for the rice crops. Farmers would pray for a good harvest under the blossom trees. It is held in Japanese history that the chief advisor to the emperor, Toyotomi Hideyoshi, would host the most spectacular picnics. These celebrations would last several days and would include poetry readings and plays. The Namiki Dancing Beauty depicts a beautiful women dancing with a traditional folding fan under the Sakura blossoms, attending a flower appreciation party. The Namiki Dancing Beauty was created using green urushi lacquer coating. The colour resembles the hills and fields of spring. The pen uses a raised gold lacquer technique called “Taka Maki-e” while the Sakura blossoms are made using the “Raden” technique (mother-of-pearl). This complete sophisticated work of art used in this pen is called “Hyomon” technique. This gorgeous fine writing instrument comes complete with the original outer cardboard box, outer presentation box, ink bottle, black lacquer wooden box, and authentic original documentation. Please note that this is a vest pen and does not come with a pen clip. This pen is mint in the box. This pen also comes with a 18k Medium nib. A truly collectible piece of art that is extremely difficult to come by. Kindly drop me a message if you would like to have more photos. Brand new in box. Fountain pen is in mint, unused and undipped condition. Thereafter, I reserve my rights to re-list the item. All sales are final.
