Waterman Patrician Onyx 1st Issue Fountain Pen 1929. 14C F Flex Nib. Mint. Rare
Waterman Patrician Onyx 1st Issue Fountain Pen 1929. 14C F Flex Nib. Ultra Rare to find so clean with no discoloration etc. Zero Cracks or Splits etc. As good as you will ever see. Its F Flex nib is a JOY to write with. These were the first EVER Celluloid pen made by Waterman. These Onyx examples were the models they launched with. Made in New York, USA in 1929 ONLY in this exact form. This Handsome Chap is the OVERSIZE Patrician. At the time this was the largest pen Waterman made. These have the last of the size 8 nibs. Similar Nib size to a model 58. Although the Patrician is not as big as a 58. ALL Waterman pens from 1929 into the 1930s became smaller than their 1920s equivalents. For me this Patrician is the perfect size SENIOR pen. Wide but not crazy fat like a 149. Long but not crazy long like a 58. These Patrician have perfect weight, width, length, balance in the hand when writing. If you choose to post the Cap on the Tail end then these pens are VERY long. The pen itself is made of early Celluloid. These were the FIRST pen Waterman EVER made in Celluloid. Before 1929 all of Waterman’s Pens were made of Hard Rubber. Indeed these 1st issue Patrician have some wonderful deep Crimson Red Hard Rubber accents. The Caps Top and Cap Opening are RHR (Red Hard Rubber) The Front section (part you hold when writing), Pen barrel tail end (with Gold medallion insert) and Feed are also all RHR. ALL parts of the pen are crack free. The ONYX Celluloid is a beautiful Honey Blonde back drop with subtle Pastel Sienna and Pastel Green/Bronze highlights. Within this elegant Marble effect there are Crimson Red Veins intertwined. The colour is fantastic. VERY rare to find ONYX so clean. These pens OFTEN turn Dark Brown discolour due to Sulphur released from factory Rubber ink sacs fitted inside the pen. This is a problem with most manufacturers 1920-30s Celluloid/Early Plastic pens (Jade, Lapis, Pearl etc etc early plastics). This Patrician for sale is a RARE survivor indeed. Of course the wonderful Honey Blond colour it is today will NEVER discolour again as this pen is fitted with a New Silicone ink sac that DOES NOT leak Sulphur or effect the colourway in ANY way. The Clip, Sophisticated intricate filigree Cap Ring Band, and Lever are all Yellow Rolled Gold Plated. Also very clean Gold trim for a Patrician this age. The cleanest I have seen. The Barrels Waterman REG. Etc etc Imprints are DEEP and easy to read as when New. Rare to find such perfect Imprints. This pen has never been polished or even handled that much in its life to be so clean. Always looked after and NEVER abused. This is how you hope to find them. Over all once in the hand to the naked eye look fantastic still. Considering it is 92 years old you would have to say its in phenomenal shape. The 14K Patrician (diamond hole) EF Flex nib is a simple JOY to use. The EF being the most highly sought after tip type. This nibs EF Iridium tips are perfect with zero wear or damage etc. This nib is as clean as you will ever see. Writes with a Fine to Extra Fine line that has Fine to Extra Fine line side stroke at normal pressure. Flat tip so needle sharp. Unlike anything made nowadays. For such a Fine tip it writes super smooth with no paper scratch. Has great paper feel. Of course as with ANY F or EF non ball tip nib you have to be careful not to dig in on the upstrokes etc. It is a weapon. So not ideal for a novice heavy handed writer who throws a pen around a page fast with carefree abandon. Ballpoint pens are best suited to such writers or FIRM ball nib or M to BB tip nibs. Having said all that once an EF or F nib is in the hands of an experienced writer then these nib types are unmatched in terms of elegance and sophistication of line. Fine lines Perfect for every day use, Letters, Notes, Diary etc. This Nib also has some flexibility that allows for even more line width variation on the down stroke when varying levels of pressure is applied. It can flex from EF to Double Broad. The Flex is quite user friendly in that it is NOT soft, loose or twitchy. ONLY flexes upon user command never by itself. Overall it is a very creative nib full of personality. Perfect pen for people who like Fine line writing. Grade A++++ nib in a Beautiful Pen. This ones worth breaking the bank for. Come s ready to write just add your favourite colour bottled ink… Perfect as a gift or treat yourself to a wonderful collectible fountain pen that can be used and enjoyed daily.. Onoto Magna 1873 first issue fountain pen 1937. F FULL Flex Nib. Serviced. Rare
Onoto Magna 1873 first issue fountain pen 1937. F FULL Flex Nib. Just been Serviced by an Onoto recommended service technician. Plunger fill system works fantastic. Fills and Writes superbly. Amazing full flex nib is the BEST writing Onoto Magna flex nib I have ever used. Original Nib has stress fracture common on 1st issue pre crimp size 7 nibs. The Magna was originally designed to take a size 6 nib. They squeezed a size 7 nib in last minuet after Magna pen part machining was already done size 6. So the early issue nibs often have stress fracture down centre nib. I have owned this pen over 10 years and it has never got worse. I do have another nib without fracture if you proffer. But no other Magna nib writes as well as this pens nib. I have owned over 50 Magna over the years. Very few have good flex nibs. NONE have ever had flex as good as this pens original nib. Made in London England, 1937. This first issue Magna is from the first batch Onoto ever made. They have unique Nib, Feed and Clip that separate them from 1940s examples. ONLY 1st issue have the UNIQUE size 7 FLAT feed. Pre Comb design feed of 1938-39. Unique Ink Flow Control Feed was ONLY made by Onoto in size 7 for the Magna 1st issue pens. The pen itself is made of Jet Black High Gloss Celluloid. Zero cracks or splits etc in the Celluloid. The Blind Cap (Tail End) plunger is made of BHR (Black Hard Rubber) also the Front section (part you hold when writing), Caps Top Section above clip and the Feed are all BHR also. The Clip and Ring Bands are Yellow Gold plated and in amazing condition with very little brassing or plate loss. VERY rare to find such clean gold trim from this era. Rare 1st issue Clip with the wide ring that slots onto the cap. The Onoto Magna, London etc Barrel Imprints are deep and easy to read. Overall once in the hand to the naked eye this 80+ year old looks fantastic still. The item “Onoto Magna 1873 first issue fountain pen 1937. F FULL Flex Nib. Serviced. Montblanc 136 1st Issue Celluloid Fountain Pen 1937. 14C 235 F/M Flex Nib. First ever issue Metal Telescopic Piston was Just serviced with New Cork. Works and Writes as when new. Amazing Flex nib can write F to BBB. Made in Germany, 1936 to 1938 ONLY in this exact form. TRUE first Issue 136. Has original 235 14C nib. (235 nib UNIQUE to 1936 to 1938 Meisterstuck models 106, 126 and 136 ONLY). Cap is a rare Celluloid Example with Montblanc Meisterstuck side imprints. Most of the Caps with this imprint were made of BHR (Black Hard Rubber) with this same style side Imprint. Unique caps to first issue 136 and 126 1936 to 1939 ONLY. I love this pens Extra Long Lined Scarlet Red Ink Window which is also unique to 1st issue. By 1940 they made the window shorter. This pens barrel is Demonstrator length. Very rare to find so clean. The Caps White Star Top section, Piston Housing and Blind Cap (Tail End) and the Front Section (part you hold when writing) are ALL made of BHR. The Blind Cap has deep and easy to read 136 and EF Imprints. The beautiful Gold Tie Clip and Caps Ring Band are both Yellow Gold plated and also superb with no Brassing or Plate loss etc. Rare to find such clean Gold Trim. The pen has no Cracks, Splits, Dents, Bitemarks or Scratches etc… Overall once in the hand to the naked eye looks amazing still. For 85 years old I would say outstanding. Always been looked after. The 14C single tone 235 (I do not believe it was ever Rhodium plated in its centre) F/M FULL Flex Nib is a Connoisseur Grade SuperStar Flex nib. An absolute JOY to write with. The 14C 235 nib was unique to Meisterstuck models 106, 126 and 136 between 1936 and 1938 ONLY. Its EF Iridium Tips have been professionally reshaped to a much more user friendly Fine to Medium by its previous owner. Nib is in perfect condition with zero cracks or repairs etc. Its tines are perfect with zero kinks etc. It writes with a Fine to Medium line that has Fine line side stroke at normal pressure. VERY user friendly with ZERO paper scratch. Elegant handwriting perfect for everyday use. However, this nib really comes alive the moment you exercise its fantastic flexibility. It can flex from F to past Triple Broad on the downstroke when varying levels of pressure is applied. Wonderful Soft flex but not Loose or Twitchy. Only flexes upon user command never by itself. ULTRA creative nib full of personality. A nib so creative its ONLY limitation is the imagination and writing ability of its user. In the hands of an experienced Flex writer this thoroughbred Nib simply leaves the competition in its dust. Grade A++++++++++ Flex nib. Montblanc simply DO NOT make nibs this creative anymore. Not since the 1950’s. The fabulous Ebonite Feed offers PERFECT Ink Flow. Never skipped a beat during its writing test and I really push them. Montblanc feds of this ERA are amongst the finest EVER made. Designed to work with Flex nibs. They do not let you down. The Metal Telescopic Piston is the first issue Montblanc EVER made. Their finest achievement in design and pen filling history. Far superior to the Plastic Single action pistons they use today. ONLY Meisterstuck pens 1936 to 1959 had these pistons. All other Montblanc Piston pens are Single action as designed by Pelikan in 1929. The metal telescopic piston is unique to Montblanc. Perhaps the greatest piston design ever. The only reason they stopped using it was to cut manufacturing costs in 1959. Opting for the 10 times cheaper to make plastic single action piston that holds a 1/3 less ink because of it. NOTHING retracts further inside the Barrel allowing more ink storage than a Telescopic piston. This pens piston works as new. Fills to the max every time. Never gets stuck half way. ALWAYS fully retracts when filling. Works as when New. Come s ready to write just add your favourite colour bottled ink… Perfect as a gift or treat yourself to a wonderful collectible fountain pen that can be used and enjoyed daily.. Montblanc 136 1st Issue Celluloid Fountain Pen 1937. 14C 235 F/M Flex Nib. Rare
Please view all the Photographs they form large part of the description. All photographs are of actual pen. What you see is everything you receive. Any boxes or papers will ALWAYS be photographed if included. Fed Ex is also available.
