Slavoljub Penkala worked on creation of the first mechanical pencil and modern piston mechanism which was later patented by Romanian engineer. Penkala is considered as the creator of the modern fountain pen’s in the late 19 th Century, with the invention of the safety pen. Penkala factory had been given many of the patents to Montblanc, Pelikan, Senator, Reform and others. Barrel – Hard rubber barrel and cap. Trim – Stainless steel trim with visible marks of age on the surface, marked Penkala on the trim ring. Engravings – Penkala on the trim ring, Penkala 2 on the nib. Nib – EF-extra fine, authentic Penkala 2 gold nib. Minor marks of age and use on the surface, no cracks or deep scratches. Condition – In very good condition antique Penkala safety- fountain pen.
