The McLaren MRP-850 is a titanium body rollerball pen from the limited edition McLaren family of pens. Brand New – Never Used. McLaren International commissioned TML Precision Engineering in the UK (producers of bespoke parts for the aeronautical and motorsport industries) for a small run of high-end fountain pens and rollerball pens in the mid-1990s focusing on the use of F1 racing-grade materials, primarily carbon fiber and titanium. The MFP-850 has no carbon fiber, but rather uses a full-titanium body and cap. These were machined from a solid billet of titanium. The pen has grooves machines into it that are reminiscent of the air cooled cylinder heads of engines in the past but practically aid with grip. Unlike other pens in the McLaren family the grooves are not used with rubber o-rings, and are instead left bare, giving the 850 a sparse, clean look. This is a very rare pen to find. Brand new -unused in original aluminium presentation case. The pen is supplied complete in presentation tube with matching design and instructions. The McLaren promotional booklet that Ive taken some images of is not part part of the pen and therefore not included in the sale.
