At the time, the workhorse of the brand was the Supermodel, which came in a number of versions and sizes, from the Super 50 to the Super 500. And a Super 22 KAGM was released for the occasion. This was very special model which was only for Japan. The leading characteristic of these pens was the filling system-the quarter-switch device, called “hose system” in Japan. It is composed of a rubber sac covered by a metal sheath inside which there is a pressing plate operated by a small lever located on the top of the sheath. Small Super models, though, could not fit this system inside and implemented a much simpler pressing plate in the fashion of a traditional aero-metric device. These Pilot Super 22 KAGM have had the filling system changed to the modern Pilot filling system. Now able to take the normal Pilot cartridge or converter this allows for a more simple and modern filling. Although this model is still very rare and quite hard to find in Japan. Pilot 14K Gold Nib. The nib it has is a very special nib, manufactured perfectly for Pilot super line. The size is not mentioned or marked on the nib itself, however from feeling how it writes and perform, it falls closest on the fine side. The shape of the nib gives a strong sense of accuracy, a sort of visual allusion to a long, tapered arrow. In isolation, you can see it’s in fact quite short! The oblong breather hole and slender delta tine sweep help create this clever effect. The continuity of the mildly tapering section and’long’ nib give an agreeable sensation of precision control akin to writing with a recently sharpened pencil. Generally Pilot nib sizes run one size smaller than their western counterparts. Pen nib features gold plated and the flow is even and the nib is tolerant to variations in angle, in short the nib has a very large sweet spot. The 14K nib is in a fine condition and there is not much wear on the points. There are ink residue around the bottom of the nib. There is no leakage. The pens are in incredible condition with small spots and wear and tear seen on the pen. The nib have been cleaned and polished. Overall B – A Tier Condition! The nib has no perceivable damage and still writes like a dream. The pen is obtained by second-hand collectors market. Please treat the pen with the utmost care, if you do not know what you are doing, please refrain from opening hinges or things that might appear untightened, due to the age of this pen and hard contact or excessive force exerted on the pen damaging the pen. S Tier – Almost like Brand New: This pen is in exceptional condition, almost as if it were brand new. There are no signs of rust on the clip, and the original filling system is still intact and does not require replacement. Hairline scratches may be visible on the body, cap, and nib. The nib color remains consistent, although small scratches may be seen upon close inspection. C Tier – Fair Condition: This pen is in fair condition and is functional, but it has noticeable scratches on the body and cap. The trim may be rusted or chipped. A major refurbishment has been conducted to restore the pen to an acceptable condition, but in the process, many of its original characteristics have been lost. Please note that this item condition grade is based on general standards and may vary depending on the specific criteria and expectations of different collectors or sellers. We would like to ask for your cooperation and understanding.
