A charming Pilot Namiki plunge- fill fountain pen made from black hard rubber with lacquer finish and topped off with a distinctive crown cap top and a rare solid 12Kt gold nib. The pen measures 12.7 cms capped. The pen is imprinted PILOT THE NAMIKI MFG CO LTD MADE ON JAPAN with the Namiki’N’ logo on the barrel and the gold nib is imprinted with oriental characters and 50% indicating its is made from 12 kt gold. The gold nib has a fine or extra fine tip and plenty of iridium to assure a smooth writing experience. I would say the nib is springy rather than flexible or stiff. The pen is in overall good condition with just normal use signs, but has a hairline to the cap lip and some Japanese characters lightly scratched on both cap and barrel. Ey are very fine and hard to spot unless you look for them and lend a certain period charm to the pen I think. There is usual wear to urushi and some light marks, see the photos to get a clearer idea of condition. The plunger moves in and out of the barrel and the seal seems tight but it has not been restored. It will need reviewed if you wish to fill the pen with ink and use it.
