Name : Waterman’s No. 52 Vintage Fountain Pen Maker : Waterman, USA c1930’s Colour : Red Ripple Material : Ebonite Nib: Waterman’s Ideal 14k Gold Nib – Fine Filling System : Lever Filled Fountain Pen Condition : Excellent, Serviced. The Story The Watermans Ideal No. 52 is one of the Waterman’s most popular models, particularly from their early years. They started manufacturing the 52 in 1919, mainly out of BCHR (black chased hard rubber). In 1926, they introduced their red ripple ebonite, which they would continue to use for their pens for many years. The 52 has become a very popular collector’s pen both for its enduring quality and fetching design. This example has been conservatively restored and is ready to write. There are no major imperfections to note. No chips cracks or engravings or any signs of faults or major surface wear. There are light signs of discolouration as is common with ebonite, and the ring top is missing frrom the caps top. But overall the pen is in superb condition. Writing Style A fine Waterman’s Ideal flex nib, offering a touch of feedback and line variation from a fine to a medium.
