RARE 1930´s OMEGA Super Nova 18K. R. Overlay Safety Fountain Pen Flexy M Nib. A very nice and well preserved Italian Omega safety pen. Unfortunately, there is very little information available concerning the Omega FP company. In 1919 the Verga brothers, Eugenio and Alfredo, founded the Columbus pen company in Milan which is still one of the most important pen makers. Successively, in 1930, Mr. Alfredo Verga founded in Milan another pen company which was named “Omega”, like the greek letter. Barrel has no deep scratches. Cap has no deep scratches and no dings. However the inside cap top part of the overlay must have been placed back in by some repair as can be seen in picture 6. Nib is 14ct gold and is the original OMEGA nib. Nib type M with medium flex. Montblanc 4M Safety BCHR FP, 14Ct no. The fountain pen is fitted with its original Montblanc 14ct no. 4 fine point nib with a heart shaped breather. The fountain pen measures capped 143 mm (5 5/8 inches). It is a very rare old Montblanc safety in very good condition. Comes with an after-market snake clip. 5 5/8 long capped. Cap imprinted with Montblanc and Montblanc logo. Stabilized crack in cap lip (see picture 2). Barrel imprint is very difficult to read. I can make out Original but not much more than that. I think it is a Simplo. There is some oxidation on the barrel consistent with the pen’s age. Ultra Rare OMEGA No 651 Hard Rubber Safety Fountain Pen Flexible F Nib F to BBB. Has been disassembled, new cork seal installed and new cap lip installed! Good condition and a definately very rare pen to come by these days! Omega was a subbrand of KAWECO. The businessmen Heinrich Koch and Rudolph Weber took over the dip pen factory in 1889 and set-up a new production facility in Handschuhsheim, right outside of Heidelberg. The products were marked with the brand names Perkeo, Omega, and Kaweco and were stamped with the initials HF, which stands for Heidelberger Federhalterfabrik (Heidelberg dip pen factory). Barrel has no deep scratches. Cap has no deep scratches. The cap can be put onto the bottom end and while screwing it onto it, the nib will come out the barrel! That was a big invention back then. I adore this pens HUGE White Star on the Caps top. These are my favourite Stars. Made of White Casein with BHR surround. I also love this pens practical size. Small but still fantastic to hold. I found it ultra easy to write with. Pens don’t have to be HUGE. This pen is small but writes far better than 99percent of ALL pens EVER made in history. Its ability to write is not compromised whatsoever by its size (size 0 and 00 pens are too small in my opinion to actually write with). Indeed this pens Original 14C Number 1 Nib is a simple JOY to use. MINT condition nib with zero damage or repairs etc. Its Iridium tips are as new. Good to last several more lifetimes. Writes with a Fine to Medium Fine line that has Fine line side stroke at normal pressure. Perfect for everyday writer. This nib also has flexibility that allows for even more line width variation on the down stroke when varying levels of pressure is applied. Can flex from F to BB. Beautiful Flex writer full of personality. The flex is also very user friendly in that it is not Soft, Loose or Twitchy. ONLY flexes upon user command, Never by itself. My favourite type of flex. Practical for daily use. The pen itself is made of BHR (Black Hard Rubber). Made in Hamburg for Germany market. Stoffhass was the main retailer of Montblanc pens, Ink and Stationary etc in Germany throughout the 1910-30s. If you bought a Montblanc pen in Germany at this time no doubt it would have been from a Stoffhaas store. Very rare to find such a complete set of good imprints on one of these. Easy to read still. The Size 1 Safety is one of the smallest pens ever made. This little chap might be compact in size put boy does it pack a serious punch when it comes to the business of writing. Wow this pen is a simple JOY to write with. Designed to fit ANY size pocket, purse or bag. Now take a pipette of ink and squirt directly inside the barrel until 80percent full. Now extend the nib by turning the Blind Cap (Tail End). When finished simply retract the nib back inside by turning the Blind Cap reverse and then screw the cap back on. No need to empty ink out. All new cork seals inside makes this 100 year old water tight as new. Very rare to find so perfectly functioning.
