Montblanc 149 Silver Rings Celluloid Fountain Pen 1955. Metal Telescopic Piston has just been serviced. Works and writes as when new. Pen has ZERO cracks or splits etc. Rare to find so clean ALL parts Original. Made in Germany, 1954 to 1956 ONLY in this exact form. Export model made for England and USA etc Markets. After 1956 they no longer used Masterpiece Imprints and simply used Meisterstuck on all models. Wonderful fat Full LINE Ebonite feed was introduced in 1954. This wonderful pen is very highly sought after. Especially with an Extra Fine nib. The pen is made of Jet Black High Gloss Celluloid. Still has ALL its Black. These pens Barrels are an Orange Amber celluloid tube that is then thinly dipped in Black Celluloid. With polishing, age and use this thin outer Black layer can wear thin and show through patchy orange/red of the inner barrel. This pen is still FULL Black as they are supposed to be. Rare to find so clean. The Clip and Central Ring Band are Yellow Gold plated and superb with no plate loss etc. The 2 outer Ring Bands are made of 925 Sterling Silver. Unique to 1950’s 149 and 1938-40s models 139 & 129 ONLY. The pen has no cracks, splits or repairs etc. It has the usual desk wear you would expect of an unpolished original 66 year old. Montblanc 4M Safety BCHR FP, 14Ct no. The fountain pen is fitted with its original Montblanc 14ct no. 4 fine point nib with a heart shaped breather. The fountain pen measures capped 143 mm (5 5/8 inches). It is a very rare old Montblanc safety in very good condition. Comes with an after-market snake clip. 5 5/8 long capped. Cap imprinted with Montblanc and Montblanc logo. Stabilized crack in cap lip (see picture 2). Barrel imprint is very difficult to read. I can make out Original but not much more than that. I think it is a Simplo. There is some oxidation on the barrel consistent with the pen’s age. Stoffhass was the main retailer of Montblanc pens, Ink and Stationary etc in Germany throughout the 1910-30s. If you bought a Montblanc pen in Germany at this time no doubt it would have been from a Stoffhaas store. Very rare to find such a complete set of good imprints on one of these. Easy to read still. The Size 1 Safety is one of the smallest pens ever made. This little chap might be compact in size put boy does it pack a serious punch when it comes to the business of writing. Wow this pen is a simple JOY to write with. Designed to fit ANY size pocket, purse or bag. They also fit inside the side Loupe of Personal Organizer, Note Pad and Diary etc etc. Perfect travel pen for postcards etc. Just beautiful to hold. Now take a pipette of ink and squirt directly inside the barrel until 80percent full. Now extend the nib by turning the Blind Cap (Tail End). When finished simply retract the nib back inside by turning the Blind Cap reverse and then screw the cap back on. No need to empty ink out. All new cork seals inside makes this 100 year old water tight as new. Very rare to find so perfectly functioning.
