By an special ultrasonic device. Pulls and hold water perfect. Shaft is without any discolourations. Goldplated parts are in excellent condition, no abrasion. Imprints are deep and gold colored. Sheaffer Balance oversized Senior model, Canadian production circa mid-1930s, in green marble Radite celluloid and gold filled trim. The pen is well worn but has no cracks, and the color, while not perfect, is very good. This is the only Balance I’ve seen of this era with a factory oblique nib. I’ve had oblique flattop Lifetime nibs, the big ones that carried on to the early Balances, but I’ve never had one from the two-tone era. It writes well and is fun to use. Lever filler, restored with new sac installed. Length about 5 1/2 inches. The writing samples were made with the pen itself, dipped in Waterman Intense Black ink, on a Rhodia pad with 5mm squares.
